Romain Kulczycki is French born photographer from Lille (b. in 1984). Graduated in Sociology, he worked several years as a specialized teacher for minorities and refugees in France and Central America. He realized as a self-taught photographer documentary projects in the Balkans and in the north of France. In 2018 He moved to Milan to devote himself entirely to the photography and earned with honors a master degree in Photography and Visual design from NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti of Milan). He has participated in several collective exhibitions in Milan or in France and was published by several Italian and foreign magazines. Influenced by social sciences and literature, he’s interested by urban reality and the relative question of modernity. He focuses on the notions of identity, margins, territories and mutations that take shape, trying to keep a personal esthetic and an instinctive approach.


Romain Kulczycki est né à Lille en 1984. Diplômé en Sociologie, il a ensuite travaillé plusieurs années en France et en Amérique latine comme professeur des écoles spécialisé auprès d’élèves non francophones et a réalisé comme photographe autodidacte des projets documentaires dans les Balkans ou dans le Nord de la France. En 2018 il s’installe en Italie pour se consacrer à la photographie et obtient avec les félicitations du jury le master en photographie de la Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti de Milan (NABA). Ayant participé à diverses expositions en France ou à Milan, il a été publié par diverses revues italiennes ou étrangères. Influencé par les sciences sociales et la littérature, il s’intéresse au fait urbain et à la relative question de la modernité. Il se concentre sur les notions de marge, de territoire(s) et aux identités qui y sont rattachées en cherchant à développer une approche intuitive et une narration personnelle.

Ha realizzato come fotografo autodidatta progetti documentari nei Balcani, nella Cina e nella Francia del nord. Nel 2018 si trasferisce a Milano per dedicarsi interamente alla fotografia e ottiene cum laude il master in Photography and Visual design della NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti) di Milano in 2019. Ha partecipato a mostre a Milano o in Francia ed è stato pubblicato per diverse riviste italiane o straniere. Influenzato dalle scienze sociali e dalla letteratura, si interessa al fatto urbano e alla questione relativa de la modernità. Si sofferma sulle nozioni delle margine, di identità, di territori e delle loro mutazioni, cercando di mantenere un approccio intuitivo e una narrazione personale.
